SUAMICO (NBC 26) -- The Village of Suamico has enacted a curfew that goes into effect from 9:00 p.m. until 06:00 a.m. daily beginning on June 5th and ending on June 8th.
The curfew is in response to violence that broke out during protests last weekend in Green Bay.
"We understand that there are violent groups looking to take advantage of the peaceful protests and are looking for communities without curfews to target," the Suamico Village Administrator stated in an email to news media. "This is a proactive measure on our part to protect the residents and businesses of Suamico. No known threat(s) are known at this time."
This is the latest curfew to be enacted in response to possible violence concerns. Green Bay, Ashwaubenon and Howard have all extended or enacted curfews for this weekend. More protests in response to the death of George Floyd are planned for Green Bay.
