SISTER BAY — Alcohol appears to be a factor in a crash that injured five people, according to the Door County Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office said it was notified Wednesday of a three vehicle crash on STH 57 north of Orchard Rd. in the village of Sister Bay. According to the Sheriff's Office, a 26-year-old Baileys Harbor woman was driving a 2009 Ford Escape heading southbound when she hit a 2011 Nissan Rouge heading northbound. The Sheriff's Office said she then continued southbound and then hit a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban head-on.
Five people were injured in the crash, the Sheriff's Office said. Two of them had life-threatening injuries, one had serious injuries and two others had minor injuries. Three people were hospitalized.
STH 57 was closed for several hours and traffic was detoured around the crash scene, the Sheriff's Office said. Alcohol appears to have been a factor in this crash, according to Door County authorities. The crash is still being investigated.
