DE PERE (NBC 26) — After a long and cold winter, spring is finally here.
Saturday afternoon many families went out to enjoy the warm temperatures.
Voyageur Park in De Pere was filled with fishermen spending their day relaxing and trying to reel in the biggest catch.
For the Lee siblings of Northeast Wisconsin, they decided to take advantage of the weather and go fishing.
“I think this is kind of like fun because we get to kind of like go outside again and have a lot of fun fishing because it’s been a long time since we’ve fished,” said 7-year-old Evy Lee.

The children say it’s times like these they are able to enjoy their company around one another while participating in a friendly brother-sister competition of who catches the most fish.
“The competition began. My brother caught a fish first and then I caught another one which was my second one and my sister just caught one now”, said 10-year-old Mars Lee.

But they say fishing wasn’t always a sport they saw as “fun", however they say with time it has now become something they’ve truly enjoyed.
“A long time ago, two to one years ago I wasn’t really a big fan of fishing but now that I’ve caught a perch very fun, it’s very fun for me,” Mars said.
For the eldest Lee sibling, he says fishing is something his family has been doing for a few years now.
While it requires a lot of time watching your rod, he says it’s worth it when you finally get lucky.
“It’s a lot of patience and you have to wait till your fish bites your bait, but it’s sometimes fun when you catch the fish,” said 11-year-old Tristan Lee.
Fishing offering the Lee siblings a timeless bonding experience, as it’s always full of action and excitement being out near the water.
