APPLETON (NBC 26) — Fireworks are back this year in Appleton for Independence Day celebrations, but with some changes due to COVID.

The Appleton Area Jaycees announced Tuesday the Festival Foods Fireworks celebration will return to Appleton's Memorial Park on July 3 this year. Along with fireworks at dusk, organizers say they will have a variety of food vendors and musical performances by Twisted Chords and Boogie and the Yo-Yo'z.

"Although there's more than enough room for everyone to physically distance from one another throughout Appleton Memorial Park's vast 143 acres, at this time we will be limiting the hill/concert area to around 150 physically distanced 'group pods' for those wishing to view the concerts," the Appleton Area Jaycees said in a statement.

The group said although not everyone will be able to sit on the hill, they will still be able to hear and enjoy the music throughout the park.

The Appleton Area Jaycees is still looking for support in bringing this free event to the community. To donate, express interest in sponsorship opportunities or volunteer, contact the Appleton Area Jaycees at Appleton.Jaycees@gmail.com
