FOND DU LAC — A playground was reportedly destroyed in a fire Monday, according to Fond du Lac Fire Rescue.
Fire officials say crews responded to Lakeside Park of Harbor View Drive early Monday evening for a report of playground equipment on fire. Upon arrival crews found a playground set on fire. The fire was extinguished but not before the equipment was destroyed.
In a news release, Fire Chief Peter O’Leary called the incident, "disturbing."
“This is a place for kids to play and during the pandemic, families have struggled to find places to get outdoors with their children," Chief O'Leary said.
Investigators with both police and fire are looking into the incident, searching for anyone who might have been in the area at the time of the fire. The fire's cause is under investigation.
