This season of giving the Union Grove Yorkville Fire Department is helping out one local family with the help of other local departments.

The Serdynski's lost their father and husband, Brian, in November. Brian was a firefighter with the Union Grove Yorkville Fire Department up until that point. He left behind his wife and three young children.

So to spread the Christmas cheer, the fire department came together with Sturtevant police and Racine Honda to provide gifts for Brian's family. There was only one problem, the Grinch.

The fire department had a run in with the green Christmas thief on Sunday, and shared this video on Facebook chronicling the events.

It was up to the children to get the gifts back, and lo and behold, they did. The Grinch was then caught on camera by a passerby in the back of a Sturtevant police truck.

Sturtevant police used that same truck earlier that day to bring toys to a family in Racine in Brian's honor. The truck pulled the toys in a sleigh marked with the number eight, which also pays homage to Brian.
