FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Firefighters had to use a special suppression agent to put out a fire in the dust collection system at Mercury Marine Plant 17.

Crews arrived at the plant just after 10 a.m. Thursday to find heavy smoke coming from the dust collection container on the outside of the building.

Fond du Lac Fire says collection system was being removed from the building when heat was introduced to the container and sparked the fire.

Mercury Marine provided firefighters with a special suppression agent to extinguish the fire because of the combustible metals. The fire did not spread to other parts of the building. Fond du Lac Fire says no one was reported hurt and all employees evacuated safely.
