WAUPACA CO. (NBC 26) — Authorities reported a fatal multi-vehicle crash, in which alcohol is believed to be a factor, that sent three people to the hospital New Year's Eve.
The Waupaca County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened on Highway 45 and Hilltop Road in the Town of Larabee.
Deputies said an initial investigation reveals a southbound SUV crossed into northbound lanes. The SUV hit a pickup truck head-on before crashing into two additional northbound vehicles.
First responders said the SUV driver was dead upon arrival. The driver and passenger of the pickup truck along with the passenger in one of the other vehicles were taken to the hospital.
This is an ongoing investigation. Names are being withheld pending notification of family members.
