DE PERE (NBC 26) — It's not a coincidence if you were seeing a sea of red on Sunday and that’s because many around town were cheering on the Badgers.

The long awaited return of March Madness is finally here.

“We didn’t get it last year so everybody is really happy especially Wisconsin going past the first round," said Scott Duzdik.

Fans like Dudzik say it’s an exciting time for many basketball and sports enthusiasts, with the anticipation, the filling of the brackets and the emotions while watching the games.

“It's like a winner take all, so it’s really intense the entire game and people are always talking sports. Especially with Packers doing well enough this season and now bringing the excitement into basketball. The Badgers are doing well enough. Anything Wisconsin we’re going to cheer it up whether it’s the Brewers, the Bucks, the Packers, or even the Badgers," Dudzik said.

As the NCAA tournament is in full swing, we’ve already seen so many upsets in the first couple rounds.

“Oh my god, I mean I think this its the most amount of upsets that the brackets have seen with 13 overall seats. Everybody’s bracket is busted so now I guess it’s just time to drink and have fun I guess," Dudzik said.

And Sunday, Badger fans were hoping for an upset to add to the March Madness.

"The Big 10 is in a tough run, knocked off quite a few of the teams,” said Mark Jensen, Green Bay.

And while the outcome didn’t go as many had hoped for, some fans who came out early this afternoon to Replay Sports Bar and Grill in De Pere to watch the game were excited to cheer on Wisconsin.

Badger fans were optimistic before the game really hoping the team could shoot their shot.

“Oh, we are really psyched up. I think everyone is psyched up especially what we saw the other day. If the Badgers can come out and play the way we saw earlier they’re unbeatable. They’re going to take Baylor. They take any team that’s in the 64," Jensen said.

But win or lose Badger fans say March Madness is all about friendly competition and having a great time.

And while we did get the tournament back this year, fans say they’re optimistic for next year as things will hopefully continue to get better.
