LEDGEVIEW — The family of an elderly woman who was robbed at a Piggly Wiggly in Ledgeview last month is speaking out.

The 84-year-old woman's son tells NBC26 she got back to her car in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot when a man pushed her from behind, knocking her to the ground and grabbing her purse. The robbery left her not only injured, but also in fear.

The Brown County Sheriff's Office says the suspect is a man described as being in his late 20s to early 30s. The victim’s son tells NBC26 that before the robbery, the woman spoke to the suspect, asking if he knew where the post office was at the Piggly Wiggly, and he said no.

After she found it and mailed her letter, she headed back to her car - that's when the same man she spoke to earlier pushed her down and took her purse.

"No one would want that to happen to their mother or grandmother,” says Tom Lund, the victim’s son. “I mean, it's terrible. I mean, she's a vulnerable person and this man accosted her."

Lund says his father died last November and his mother moved here from Eagle River to be closer to family. The robbery happened just two months after she moved here.

Lund also says she suffered from a gouge in her thumb and hip pain, but knows this could've ended much worse. The Sheriff's Office is still looking for the suspect.
