GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC 26) -- It's the fourth year for the Brown County Community Gardens and the Green Bay Packers 'Planting for a Purpose" program and they're still hoping to see a few more people donate produce this year.
The 'Planting for a Purpose' Program got started to help with food insecurity in Brown County. Organizers say they have already had several people donate, but they could always use more as the food pantry needs have increased due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Last year, according to Brown County Extension, just under 20,000 pounds of fresh produce was donated to local pantries.
The Green Bay Packers and the Brown County Extension say they hope to surpass that goal and hope others will consider donating from their harvest.
