OSHKOSH, Wis. — A former daycare worker at the Oshkosh YMCA is charged with sexually assaulting a 3-year-old girl.

75-year-old B.T. Adams was charged Thursday with two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child under 13, and one count of conspiracy to sexually assault a child. All of the counts involve the same child. B.T. Adams is accused of sexually assaulting the child at least two separate times at the YMCA drop-in center where he worked part-time for five years.

Back in early December, YMCA’s director told investigators that a parent noticed Adams kissing a 3-year-old girl when she dropped off her son. Managers then watched surveillance video from the last month and found two separate instances where kissing and inappropriate touching allegedly happened with the same child. Adams is also accused of bringing that child into a restroom, out of view of security cameras.

The YMCA fired Adams after the investigation started. Adams also had played Santa Claus at the facility.

Oshkosh Police Chief Dean Smith told reporters on Thursday that since Adams was arrested last week, police have received 17 reports about him from concerned parents.

The president and CEO of the Oshkosh Community YMCA, Tom Blaze, says the organization is cooperating with investigators.
