OSHKOSH — Wittman Airfield opened its doors Sunday for a look at how the traffic operators are guiding planes into Oshkosh during the 50th EAA Adventure.

The annual air convention brings in pilots and plane enthusiast from all over the world into the city. On Sunday, operators were mostly focused on landing planes into the airport as the festivities begin.

Some say it is the busiest airport in the world this time of year.

"It’s a big deal, I worked at O'Hare for many, many years, and O'Hare never got as busy as this place gets, not even close,” said Air Traffic Manager Tim Fitzgerald.

Another reason the airport is busy is because the air traffic control operators work different shifts at 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., compared to airports that run for 24 hours.
