KEWAUNEE COUNTY (NBC 26) — A 39-year-old Manitowoc man was arrested for OWI after authorities said an 11-year-old girl was run over and trapped under the man's truck.

The Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department said its communications center got a call at 8:18 p.m. Tuesday from a mother who said her 11-year-old daughter had just been run over by a truck and was trapped under the vehicle at a campground in the town of Carlton.

The sheriff's department said its department, as well as Carlton First Responders, Kewaunee Rescue and Kewaunee Fire Departments responded to extricate the child from under the vehicle and provide medical attention. The girl was taken to a medical facility in Green Bay with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the sheriff's department, the 39-year-old Manitowoc driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, third offense, along with causing injury while operating under the influence. A bail hearing is scheduled for later Wednesday.

The incident remains under investigation and the name of the victim will not be released.
