GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — Downtown Green Bay is looking for organizations, businesses and individuals to "Adopt a Block" and keep it clean as well as keeping tree beds looking nice.
Emily Cubitt, marketing manager for Downtown Green Bay Inc. and Olde Mainstreet Inc., said the program could be a good fit for downtown residents.
"You know, you don't have your typical lawn or garden that some people do," she said. "This is a great way to be able to do that. Get outside and maintain a tree bed, maybe do some plantings. We want to help you and make downtown as pretty as possible."
Cubitt said the program will help create a more beautiful, welcoming community center with clean streets, tidy sidewalks and well-maintained green spaces.
"We teach you to track your impact, and what you're doing and how much of an impact you've had on our community and also how much trash needs to be collected throughout the year," Cubitt said. "And we're asking for a minimum 1-year commitment on the blocks, but it's a great team building or family bonding activity."
