MADISON (NBC 26) -- Wildlife officials report a dog death on April 1, could be related to a rash of fatal poisonings of dogs and wildlife on Wisconsin public lands.

According to a CRIMESTOPPERS update from the the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the latest death was a pet 3-year-old German Shepherd being walked on a leash. They were walking on public land in northern Forest County, near the Michigan border.

Poison is believed to be among the possible causes of death, according to the update. However, confirmation lab tests are pending. Owners of the dog reported seeing a few dead ravens near the site as well.

Several domestic dog deaths have occurred in Forest, Marinette and Florence counties. It's possible other counties could be involved. In addition to pet dogs, investigators also found dead raptors, coyotes, weasels, raccoons and wolves.

Wisconsin DNR, along with U.S. Fish and Wildlife, are investigating the animal deaths. A reward was offeredfor help on the case last year.

Wildlife officials are warning pet owners to keep their pets on a leash when outside, and keep an eye out for signs of poison in the area, such as dead wildlife.
