GREEN BAY, Wis. — The wet weather canceled the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon, but runners still made a 13 mile journey around the area for the half marathon.

Officials made the decision to cancel the full marathon late on Saturday night. Part of the course along the Fox River Trail had flooding concerns.

"It is definitely the toughest call as the race director, but its the right one, we know we did the right thing," race director Toni Jaeckels said.

That meant many runners who were scheduled to do the marathon ended up doing the half instead. That race went off successfully.

"Everybody was crossing the line with smiles on their faces," Jaeckels said. "I think they are happy they got to come out, and run and actually some of them compete."
