DE PERE (NBC 26) — As Covid-19 continues to see rampant numbers here in Wisconsin, local doctors are saying that symptoms of the delta variant may be different in children. Dr. Donald Beno, a Pediatrician at Aurora BayCare, says that symptoms can range from runny noses to sore throats which differ from usual symptoms
"We've seen kids with vomiting and diarrhea as their only presenting symptom of COVID-19, to where the original might have had high fevers, body aches and cough, this one has many different symptoms and can be presented in many different ways."
Experts also say that while the delta variant still is typically not as severe in children, it’s important that parents are aware of the variety of symptoms that can be COVID and get children tested to avoid spreading the virus to others, especially potentially vulnerable family members or friends.
"Unfortunately, the delta variant is extremely transmissible and spreads very quickly and 29% of all COVID cases at this moment are in children, so we definitely are seeing a dramatic increase."
