MANITOWOC, Wis. — Criminal charges were formally filed Monday for Karl Hess, a man accused of killing a father and daughter in their Manitowoc home last year.

Online court records show Hess faces two counts of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide in the murders of Richard Miller and his daughter, Jocelyn.

According to a previous report, court documents say Karl Hess broke into Richard Miller's home back in September, shot and killed Richard and Jocelyn, and then left with some valuables, including a safe, from the home. The probable cause statement says Hess admitted to investigators that he was having financial difficulties.

Hess is due back in court on Monday afternoon. He's currently in the Manitowoc County Jail. Last week, his bail was set at $1 million.
