GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — After a year that had many ups and downs, community members said they’re looking to focus on a brighter future this new year.
“I think there’s a general optimism that this will push us through,” said one area resident.
Folks rang in the new year in a way like never before, as covid lockdowns and restrictions shifted celebrations across many parts of the country and world.
“New Year’s Eve we kind of stayed at home and got out today with some of the extended family and tried to get outdoors. But it was the quiet New Years we’ve had in years. Trying to do our part in staying healthy,“ said one visitor at Titletown.
While some traditions still stood, in Green Bay a socially-distanced celebration was held in Titletown as families counted down to 2021.
For one woman, she said this year she’s ready to say goodbye to distance learning.
“I’m just looking forward to my kids going back to school. They haven’t been back at school and looking forward to that,” said one Appleton Mom and teacher.
As the vaccines have rolled out across multiple states including here in Wisconsin, people said they're hopeful the coronavirus pandemic will soon start to turn around.
