City of Green Bay introduces new transit option

GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- If you need a ride in Green Bay, the city is rolling out a new on-demand service and it’s the first of its kind in the state.

It's called GBM On-Demand. Green Bay Metro says it's an additional transit option to help fill areas with fewer riders. They'll be testing out the new program on the east side.

The good news for those who have a 30-day bus pass, you can use the same pass to pay for a ride.

"We have some areas sometimes that transit is definitely needed but maybe not in as high of demand as some of our other routes,” explained Green Bay Metro Transit Director Patricia Kiewiz. “So, what we did is we sat back and looked at some options of what we could do to provide the community with this service."

Service times range about 15 to 30 minutes. You can download the GBM On Demand app to book a ride.
