APPLETON — The City of Appleton is reminding the public to stay off the flowers after some of its flower beds were stepped on.

The city said in a Facebook post Monday that the flowers in front of the fountain in Houdini Plaza will need to be replaced after people stepped on them over the past weekend.

"Despite the decorative fence protecting the flowers, plenty of people were climbing in and out of the flowers and onto, around and in the fountain," the city wrote on Facebook.

Due to the damage, the city says the flowers will need to be removed and the flower bed will likely remain empty the rest of this year.
