Are you anxiously awaiting for cherry season?

You still have to wait a couple more days. The cold winter, as well as the cool and wet spring, have pushed harvest times back 10 days later than usual.

"Last year we were picking fruit on the 16th of July. Which is a week from today," says Terry Sorrenson of Soren's Valhalla Orchards.

Sorrenson says right now his cherries are nowhere near ready to be picked. They're still weeks away from ripe.

Currently, it is projected that the 26th of July is when harvesting will begin for tart cherries, sweet cherries a few days prior.

NBC26's Gino Recchia will have a full report on Wednesday morning on NBC26 Today.
