GREEN BAY, Wis. — Monarch Alternative Capital LP announced Thursday it has successfully acquired Shopko Optical, saving it from closing down along with Shopko retail stores.
Nearly 80 Shopko Optical locations inside current Shopko stores will become freestanding locations, the company says.
The aquistion comes after Shopko announced it filed for bankruptcy and is closing all of its retail stores.
Monarch Alternative says over the course of 2019, Shopko Optical expects to relocate approximately 80 stores, while continuing to serve patients and customers in their existing locations during the transition. Shopko Optical will continue to offer eyecare services, along with coverage from most major insurance plans, the company says.
