GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — As COVID transmission increases, public health agencies in Brown County are asking the public to wear face masks while indoors.

The strong recommendation for masks comes from a joint statement from Brown County Public Health (BCPH), the De Pere Health Department, and the Oneida Nation Health Department.

The statement cites CDC data that says Brown County is now experiencing a substantial level of community transmission of COVID-19.

"Our public health departments are strongly recommending masking in indoor settings even if you are vaccinated. This new guidance has been put in place to protect those who are unvaccinated and those who are immunocompromised," the statement reads.

Wearing a mask is now recommended, regardless of vaccination status, in indoor settings in Brown County. Health officials also encourage everyone to get vaccinated.
