MADISON (NBC 26) -- The Pardon Advisory Board for Wisconsin has sent a letter to Brendan Dassey and his legal team, stating that he is ineligible for a pardon.
Brendan Dassey and his uncle, Steven Avery, are serving prison time for the rape and murder of Teresa Halbach in Manitowoc County. Their case was covered in the documentary series, Making a Murderer, which received widespread attention.
The letter, dated December 17, states that Dassey does not meet the required conditions that would make him eligible for pardon. Read the full letter from the pardon advisory board below:

Back in October, Brendan Dassey's legal team announced they would be filing a petition for clemency to Governor Evers. During that same month, Brendan Dassey's attorney, Laura Nirider, said more than 250 prominent and public figures had signed an open letter to the Wisconsin Governor asking for clemency on Dassey's behalf.
Governor Evers had previously said he will only consider pardons for people who have completed their prison sentences. He's also ruled out commutations.
Today, only five days before Christmas, the Wisconsin Pardon Advisory Board chose to reject Brendan Dassey’s clemency petition in an unsigned form letter, without reviewing the petition on the merits. Statement attached. pic.twitter.com/sXzuhRRXXj
