DOUGLAS COUNTY, Wis. — The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says apparent GoFundMe pages for Jake Patterson were set up with fake or hacked Facebook accounts.

Jake Patterson is suspected of kidnapping Barron teen Jayme Closs and killing her parents back in October. Jayme was found alive three months later in a remote area of Douglas County.

Patterson made his first court appearance via video conference on Monday, where a judge set his bail at $5 million.

GoFundMe pages have been spotted online, apparently set up to benefit Patterson. But the Douglas County Sheriff's Office says these pages are being set up using fake or hacked Facebook accounts. In particular, one GoFundMe page used the account of a young girl from Gordon, who the Sheriff's Office says is now receiving online threats.

The Sheriff's Office says it is investigated these incidents and is asking everyone to stop harassing the Gordon girl.
