ASHWAUBENON (NBC 26) -- Ashwaubomay Lake will not open for summer 2020 due to concerns about coronavirus. The lake's staff announced the closure Wednesday on Facebook.
The staff expressed concern that there is not enough information on how COVID-19 reacts in a body of water that isn't chlorinated. The staff said they use bio-enzymes to keep bacteria levels down in the lake.
"With the newness of this virus, there is not enough information out there at this time to allow us the comfort level in keeping everyone safe," the staff wrote.
The staff said not opening is the best decision to make. They are looking forward to opening in 2021.
