FOND DU LAC (NBC 26) — The Arc of Fond Du Lac held an event Monday to show what achievements are possible when people work together.
Athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities displayed their weightlifting skills with bench presses, dead lifts, and back squats.
"They form relationships with these members where they want to keep coming back. They're excited to see their progress. I've had one member who the first day she didn't want to even lift a PVC pipe, and now she's lifting over 45 pounds, so being able to see that progress and seeing their confidence just grow is a great thing for our members,” said Aubri Donahue, Healthy Lifestyle Coordinator with the Arc of Fond Du Lac.
In the end, the organizers decided that everyone who competed was a winner.
