APPLETON (NBC 26) -- The Appleton School District is postponing large events of 250 people or more in the district effective immediately. This includes plays, musical performances and other events where large crowds would be expected.

The decision was made following Gov. Tony Evers' recommendation to cancel events where large groups of 250 or more people would be gathering, according to the district's coronavirus Information webpage.

The district is also implementing a temporary travel restriction on all non-essential district-related/sponsored staff and student travel starting Monday, March 16. The restriction includes district-related/sponsored travel for meetings, conferences, field trips or any other events both in and out of the state (with exception of travel within the Fox Cities). The travel restrictions will be in place until further notice.
