APPLETON (NBC 26) — Appleton police say a boy with a realistic replica toy handgun was arrested after being detained in Erb Park Thursday night.
Officers said they were responding to a report of a juvenile male with a handgun in the park's pavilion. They arrived and attempted to speak with the boy.
Police said the boy walked away and was then detained. During the arrest, police said the boy tried to injure himself. Police said officers secured the boy and he was driven to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
According to a report from police, the boy was released to a guardian and he will be referred to the juvenile justice system.
