Appleton police respond to false bomb threat

The Appleton Police Department reports crews were dispatched to the 700 block of West Wisconsin Avenue at 6:03 a.m. for a report of a bomb threat.

Officers established a perimeter and completed a comprehensive search of the area. Authorities report they deployed the Appleton Drone Team along with two K-9 teams specializing in explosive detection to ensure the safety of the community.

After a thorough search, nothing was located and officials determined the threat was not credible.

The Appleton Police Department released a statement following the incident.

While the threat was ultimately deemed a hoax, we want to emphasize that the Appleton Police Department takes every threat seriously. The safety and security of the community remain our top priority.
