APPLETON, Wis. — Appleton Police say officers arrested a man who allegedly threatened to shoot a family member.
On Sunday afternoon, police say Appleton officers were dispatched to a disturbance with a weapon in the area of Clark Street and Roosevelt Street. According to police, a man with a gun threatened another male and then drove away.
Police tried to pull the suspect's vehicle over, but police say he sped off. With the help of several citizens, police say officers were able to find the vehicle abandoned in the 1600 block of North Durkee Street.
After abandoning the vehicle, police say the suspect ran into the neighborhood and discarded the handgun. Police were able to find and safely arrest the suspect. Officers found the gun nearby.
During an interview with officers, police say the man told them he was on his way with the gun to shoot a family member. The suspect has been confined to Outagamie County Jail on a probation hold and is facing multiple charges.
