APPLETON, Wis. (NBC26) -- As hospitals in Wisconsin continue to fill up with Covid-19 patients, staff members are as busy as ever. So one Appleton nonprofit decided to organize a lunch for St. Elizabeth Hospital Covid Care workers as a way to help out.

Family Caregivers Rock is a nonprofit organization that works to support and grant wishes for family caregivers in Wisconsin. On Tuesday, one of those wishes was granted.

"Today [Tuesday], we are actually granting a wish to a family caregiver who selflessly asked to have meals delivered to St. Elizabeth; their Covid Care staff in Appleton," Family Caregivers Rock Chairperson Cynthia Thompson said. "The family caregiver [who made the wish] actually has a relative that works at the hospital and is caring for Covid patients. So it is his way of honoring and thanking her as well as her coworkers."

Donating salad, baked potatoes and honey buns from Texas Roadhouse, the nonprofit worked with Thrivent Financial to serve around 60 St. Elizabeth Covid Care employees.

In 2020, Family Caregivers Rock has granted the wishes of seven caregivers. To find out how to get involved with the nonprofit or to request a wish, head over to the group's website.
