APPLETON (NBC 26) — Appleton police said a man was arrested Friday. Various animals and reptiles were then removed from his home.
The Appleton Police Department reported multiple calls to different addresses on separate occasions involving the same man, identified as 21-year-old Kyle R. Komp.
Police said Komp was arrested and taken to the Outagamie County Jail on counts of Disorderly Conduct and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. Charges were also recommended in Calument County regarding the same concealed weapon violation.
"Due to the complexity of the ongoing investigations, which include the welfare of various animals and reptiles, The Appleton Police Department’s Animal Control Unit and Humane Officer were summoned to assist in the case," said Officer Meghan Cash with the Appleton Police Department.
Officer Cash explained that a search warrant at Komp's south side residence resulted in numerous animal and reptiles removes, among other things.
"We are aware of several social media posts related to this incident," continued Officer Cash. "Some of the information shared in the posts we have been made aware of is inaccurate. Cruelty to animals is a serious issue. If you are unable to care for a pet properly and need to surrender an animal, please reach out so we can connect you with resources."
