APPLETON (NBC 26) -- An Appleton man has been arrested on charges of sexual assault of a child and child pornography following a police investigation.
According to a news release from Appleton Police, officers served a search warrant Wednesday that was a result of an investigation from a cyber tip. The tip said a suspect was sharing and receiving child pornography through social media.
During the investigation, police said officers uncovered numerous images of child pornography, including a video of the suspect sexually assaulting a child. Police arrested the suspect and took him to Calumet County Jail for two counts of sexual exploitation of a child, two counts of first degree incest with a child, two counts of first degree sexual assault of a child and six counts of possession of child pornography.
Given that one of the charges in this case is incest, NBC 26 is choosing not to name the suspect in order to protect the victim.
Police do not believe there is currently any threat to the community. The case remains under investigation.
