APPLETON (NBC 26) -- A company headquartered in Appleton shipped out what they’re calling “critical care modules” for hospitals to use. The modules were built to address the shortage of hospital beds due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Boldt said the units can be deployed as stand-alone hospitals or for use inside convention centers, arenas and temporary structures.

The Boldt Company said in a news release that the first units shipped out Wednesday are part of a shipment of 36 modules destined for Adventist Health Fort Washington Hospital, in Fort Washington, Maryland.

Multiple independent modules can connect to each other or to a hospital with segregated spaces for patient care and healthcare workers. The units allow additional capacity to be added or re-deployed to sites where the need is greater, according to a news release.
