APPLETON, Wis. — Appleton Children's week will kick off this Sunday with fun free events at Erb Park and Mead Pool!
This is the 10th year for the annual event that focuses on kids getting outside and having fun! The event begins on July 21st and will run for seven day wrapping up on the 27th of July.
Kicking off the event this Sunday there will be free swimming at both Erb and Mead Pools. Erb Park will then host the Kid's Fun Run from 6 - 8 p.m. for children ages through 12. Families can end the night at Erb Pool for a Christmas in July dive-in showing of the movie "Elf" which will begin at dusk.

The fun continues in Downtown Appleton with the Building for Kids Children's Parade! Families with children 12 and under can dress up and take part in a non-motorized parade down College Avenue. The parade gets started at 6 p.m. After the parade, there will be the Fox Valley Truck Rally with music and hands-on family activities. Registration is free, but required.
Next Thursday and Friday, Appleton Parks and Recreation will host a Playground Fair at Pierce Park from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. The event will feature two days of carnival games with a chance to take home prizes, a trackless train, inflatables, food and entertainment. The Playground Fair will also be open from 12:30-2 p.m. on July 26 for families of children with special needs. Visit the Facebook event for more details.
New this year, U.S. Venture Children’s Week will also feature the U.S. Ad-Venture Scavenger Hunt. This activity encourages U.S. Venture Children’s Week participants to hunt down Appleton landmarks, such as the fountain at City Park, and post photos of them to Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #AppletonChildrensWeek.
