The American Family Insurance group announced Friday that it was raising the minimum pay for its employees to $20 an hour.
The insurance company said the new minimum pay rate would become effective retroactive to Jan. 1.
The raise in the minimum pay will affect nearly 1,700 employees.
The increase will apply to all companies within the American Family Insurance Group.
“As an organization committed to exceptional customer service, it is essential we invest in our employees who provide that service,” said Gerry Benusa, enterprise chief people officer in a press release. “Offering competitive wages not only helps ensure we attract and retain customer-focused employees, it also allows them to invest in their careers, dreams and communities.”
