DE PERE (NBC 26) -- An act of vandalism caused more than $10,000 in damage at a De Pere public area, the city's Parks, Rec and Forestry department said Wednesday.
What the department called their crown jewel of tourism and enjoyment of the outdoors, the Riverwalk and Wildlife Viewing Pier were damaged. According to their post on Facebook, nine different bollards were destroyed, a bench was thrown in the river and broken, a garbage standard was broken and thrown in the river, and two "No Fishing" signs were torn off their mounting brackets.
They're asking the community to help by contacting the authorities if they have any information about the vandalism, and to keep an eye out for suspicious behavior in the future.
