Two of the Kenosha police officers who were at the scene of the shooting of Jacob Blake are returning to duty.

The Kenosha Police Department said officers Vincent Arenas and Brittany Meronek returned to duty on Wednesday. Arenas and Meronek were placed on administrative leave pending the investigation into the shooting of Blake back on Aug. 23.

Arenas and Meronek were among the officers who were on the scene when Blake was shot several times in the back by fellow officer Rusten Sheskey. Arenas and Meronek were not charged with any crime and were not found to have used deadly force during the incident.

Sheskey was cleared of any wrongdoing by the Kenosha County District Attorney earlier this month but remains on administrative leave pending an internal review of his use of deadly force during Blake's attempted arrest.

Per department policy, any use of force must be reviewed before an officer can return to work.
