A 19-year-old Kewaunee man was sentenced this week to 60 months in federal prison for distributing child pornography.

According to the U.S. Attorney of the Eastern District of Wisconsin, authorities were first notified of Kyle D. Sanderson's actions back in April 2018, when a Canadian-based social media company notified the Department of Homeland Security about a person online known as “Rp.Destiny” who was sending child pornography to another user. Local law enforcement used that information to obtain a search warrant and eventually identified “Rp.Destiny” as Sanderson.

The U.S. Attorney said the investigation also revealed Sanderson shared passcodes with another person online that allowed them to access each other's child pornography libraries. Authorities said Sanderson had more than 4,000 child pornography images on his smart phone, many involving the abuse of toddlers and infants.

During sentencing Wednesday, a judge also ordered Sanderson to register as a sex offender and spend 5 years on supervised release.
