Local Firemen Delivering Gifts to Sick Kids...
Posted

The Green Bay metro fire department is spreading some holiday cheer at HSHS  St. Vincent Children's Hospital.

The generosity not only touches the kids but also the families during this time of year. It's the most wonderful time of year and while some are spending it with family at home...others are not.

“These kids are going through some pretty tough times and the families are going through even harder times" says Chad Bronkhorst, Green Bay Area Firefighters.

The Green Bay Fire Department partners with the Central Church in Green Bay to provide presents for the sick kids. Toys like puzzles, dolls and games are given to kids while the firemen wear their gear.

" It's exciting what we do is place a tree in our lobby and put fire hydrate ornaments on that tree and we allow them to pull an ornament off" says Mark Cox, Pastor Central Church.

The fire department has delivered the donated gifts for the past 4 years.

"In the past we've been up in the teens and almost up to 20 one year so that's a good thing" says Bronkhorst.

But if the firemen could use one word to describe the day...

"Perspective it gives us really a perspective on other things that are happening out in the community and that there are people out there this time of year that are really suffering as families" says Bronkhorst.

Bringing kids a little joy during the holiday season.

The Green Bay Fire Department also gave the kids t-shirts with the Green Bay Fire Department logo.
