Wisconsin basketball star-turned NBA player Sam Dekker and his wife, Olivia Dekker, showed their support for the Children's Cancer Family Foundation at Tuesday night's Timber Rattlers 13th Annual Strike Out Cancer Day Ball Game.
The goal for the event in Grand Chute is to give local children with cancer the opportunity to forget about their disease with a free day at the ballpark. A tailgate party kicked of the evening at 4 p.m. Kids will get to meet with Sam Dekker and a thousand fans will get a Dekker bobblehead heading into the game.
The Dekkers had a fundraising goal of $15,000, but the amount raised had surpassed their expectations. The couple shared the total before the start of the game at 7 p.m. The couple raised more than $65,000 for CCFF.
We ended up raising over $65,000 for the families of @CCFF_NEW from our wedding donation. We are overwhelmed at the outreach from the community and can’t thank everyone for their help. Our original goal was $15k so this is amazing. Thank you @TimberRattlers for an awesome night! pic.twitter.com/tdPa3OwjyI
