Some children living in low income families got a helping hand on Friday through the Give Kids a Smile program.
Dental Associates' Green Bay clinic works with the Brown County Human Services PALS program to give 10 children a healthy smile. The kids receive an exam, professional cleaning, and any other needed dental care for free.
"Kids with cavities can't eat as well. It may impact their diet. They may not be comfortable in school when they're trying to learn," said Dr. John Zweig, DDS. "We're just chipping at the problem, but it's very important we do this and to promote good oral health for kids."
A recent report from the Surgeon General says more than 51 million school hours are lost each year to dental related conditions.
