Life in prison sentence for Berlin double murder

GREEN LAKE (AP) -- A Green Lake County man convicted of killing his estranged wife and her boyfriend has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Nicholas Tuinstra was removed from the courtroom Thursday following his outburst of expletives and was later returned to hear his sentence in the deaths of Melissa Tuinstra and Justin Daniels. She had filed for divorce shortly before she and Daniels were fatally shot in September 2014 in Berlin.

As prosecutors talked about alleged abuse of Melissa that had supposedly taken place in front of the couple's 11-year-old daughter, Tuinstra lunged at the prosecution table and screamed profanities.

Tuinstra maintains he's innocent of the homicides. The victims' family members say they're relieved by the life sentence. Nicholas Tuinstra's mother believes her son is innocent.
