In an emotional courtroom, the man convicted of murder at the former Luna Lounge in Appleton was sentenced to life in prison with eligibility for parole after 34 years.
Chong Lee was convicted of first degree intentional homicide back in March for fatally shooting Joshua Richards, 25, of Green Bay in 2013.
Family of both Richards and Lee, shared teary testimony arguing their case for sentencing. Lee himself said that although it has seemed like he has no emotion during this case, he has hurt inside every day.
Richards' mother, Jacquelyn Pische, said she hoped for the harsher penalty of life in prison without parole. However, she's glad the ordeal is over, she said.
"This has been two and a half years of us coming back and forth to Appleton to come to these court hearings, it's been excruciating some days," said Pische. "So now we can hopefully get back to our normal life, even though it's without Josh."
The judge sentenced Lee on four charges: first degree intentional homicide, possession of firearm by a felon, and two counts of intimidation. He sentenced Lee to life in prison with possibility of parole after 30 years for the homicide charge, and then an additional four years in jail between the three other charges.
After credit for time served, Lee will be eligible for parole in 2048.
