DANE COUNTY, Wis. (WISC-TV) — An attorney for the man authorities say is responsible for the death of a Lake Mills firefighter confirms to News 3 that his client was under the legal limit.
Samuel Cremers, 28, is facing a tentative charge of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. However, Cremers' laywer Shaun O'Connell said Cremers blew a .079 during a breathalyzer test just below .08, which is Wisconsin’s legal limit to drive.
Cremers is accused of killing fire Captain Christopher Truman. Truman had stopped on the side of the Beltline Monday night to help another driver. Cremers hit Truman after Truman exited the vehicle.
The Dane County district Attorney's Office has not filed formal charges in the case. O'Connell tells News 3 that Cremers submitted to a blood test and results will be back in the next few weeks.
