People from across the Green Bay area gathered at Bay Beach to celebrate family and the American worker in honor of Labor Day.
The AFL-CIO sponsored picnic featured speakers, food and fun for families.
The annual picnic "recognize[s] the workers who have done the work that makes this country great," said Tony Vanderbloemen, of the Greater Green Bay Labor Council.
One attendee told reporters the event is everything Labor Day is supposed to be about.
"It's great. It's the basic premise of labor which is coming together to work to make life better in America," said Dan Kiernan, who celebrated with his neighbors.
Proceeds from today's picnic will benefit local shelters and food pantries.
