Kitchen fire displaces family

Posted
The Green Bay Metro Fire Dept. says a kitchen fire has displaced a family of five. According to crews, the fire happened in the 1500 Blk. of Farlin Ave. around 5:00 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke in the upstairs apartment with a fire on the stove top. They quickly put out the fire, but report they had to open walls and the ceiling to check for expansion. There’s about $10,000 in damage.

The family of 5 is being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Firefighters remind the public that anytime they are cooking on the stove, to always pay attention and never leave the kitchen unattended.
